We are looking for people who genuinely would like offer compassionate service to others, people who want to do volunteering work purely for the reason of supporting others and we will be delighted to hear from you!

What we can offer our volunteers?

Induction training, support and supervision, public transport costs, lunch paid when volunteering 4 hours, the opportunity to learn new skills, gain new experiences, work with and meet like minded people, make new friends, give something to your community.

You will have the opportunity to have your private practice promoted through our website for free and promoted at the Centre in Portobello.

trial period: 2 months

minimum commitment: 6 months

notice: minimum 1 month so that we can find a replacement

Being a volunteer with the Planetary Healing Centre is a beautiful experience. It is important that the whole experience you have with our organisation is enjoyable and that it makes a real difference to you and everyone involved.


Your volunteer journey

The team at the Planetary Healing Centre is here to make the first steps of your volunteer journey as easy as possible.


Getting started as a volunteer

An informal interview will be booked when we receive your application.It all starts with you, and in that interview, you may have a lot of questions about volunteering, so our team is here to answer all of them. We’ll also have some questions for you: how much time you have to give, the skills that you can offer and your reasons for volunteering.


The work of our volunteers

You can also support our organisation by sharing your skills and talents in fundraising, digital and social media, marketing and communications, admin support, recruitment and more. How much you get involved is really up to you. We always have plenty of work and projects that you can get involved. Our aim is to make volunteering easy and ensure that everyone enjoys the experience, both the volunteers and the people that come along to our activities and services. When you become a volunteer with the Planetary Healing Centre, you’ll receive help and support throughout your volunteering.


Here is how volunteering works

You will get plenty of information when you start volunteering with us but to make it as easy as possible, here are a few things that you might need to know.


Induction and training

You will receive a thorough induction before you start volunteering with us. You’ll also get other training you need to carry out your voluntary role.


Support while you volunteer

We will support you with everything you do during your volunteering time with us, this maycome from the reception coordinator, the volunteer coordinator, our support and supervisor officer, our manager or our trustees and co-founders. You can discuss your volunteering experience with them and share any issues or problems you might be facing with your volunteering work.


Expenses

We aim to reimburse you for all reasonable travel expenses incurred whilst volunteering with us.


Insurance and qualification

As a volunteer, therapist or other positions,you will be covered for the voluntary work that you do for us. However, as a therapist volunteer you will need to provide your own personal insurance for practicing the therapies you offer.You will be required to present a copy of your qualification and copy of your insurance for our files.


Safety

We don’t want our volunteers to do anything while volunteering that might be unsafe or harmful. That’s why you’ll be informed of our safe working practices when you start.


Security

We check if your role needs Disclosure to make sure that you’re able to support vulnerable people. Volunteers working on a one to one basis with vulnerable people, will need to be PVG registered ( Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
We also ensure that risk assessments are carried out for your role and the environment that you will be in.


Diversity

At The Planetary Healing Centre, we embrace diversity. Our volunteers have different backgrounds, cultures, skills and experiences, as do the people they support.


Confidentiality

All volunteer information is kept confidential within The Planetary Healing Centre. As a volunteer, we’ll also expect you to maintain the confidentiality of any information you might handle during your time with us.


Ongoing support

Whenever possible we apply for grants to support further training for our volunteers.



Friends of The Planetary Healing Centre allow us to stay connected with our past volunteers and offer them support, should they ever need it.

Please read all the documents and policies on "Reports / Policies" page before your induction training day. Once a month, Planetary Healing Centre's volunteers receive a phone call for support and supervision. Access to the support and supervision officer is also available at any time needed.
