The woodland is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Parents with prams can access the woodland and the woodland hut via the foot paths and bridges.
Our community woodland is accessible by bus to Balerno Village and a 15 min walk. There are defined foot paths and 5 sturdy, slip-proof bridges throughout the woodland.We have 2 outdoor gathering spaces in the woodland with wooden seats around fire pits, a wooden hut with a wood-burning stove, a composting toilet and 2 portable pop-up gazebos.

The 3 parking spaces in front of the woodland is only for elders, people with mobility impairment or parents with children. Please park at Cockburnhill Road, just after Pirnie Ha’ house. The woodland is only 3 minutes walking as you turn right from there.
Bus service 44 or 44A. From the city centre it takes about 30 minutes in the bus. When you get to Balerno Village, stop at 3rd bus stop after the roundabout. Enter Cockburnhill Road, walk about 15 min, at the V junction turn right, walk 2 minutes and you will see Planetary Healing sign at the entrance of the woodland.
Coming by car from other places: Follow directions to A71. At Hermiston Gate Park and Ride roundabout turn left, at next roundabout pass Herriot What University on your right, keep going straight ahead up the hill pass another roundabout, keep going up the hill until you come to Main Road called Lanark Road West where you turn righ.Pass Currie village and Balerno is the next Village
When you are in Balerno, pass High school on your left, at the roundabout, go straight up the hill. When you see the last house on your right, enter Cockburnhill Road, drive half a mile into the countryside. Park near Pirnie Ha' house, from there walk to the V junction turn right and you will see the stream and The Planetary Healing sign at the entrance of the woodland. Follow the bridges.
Coming by car from Edinburgh: From the city centre in Edinburgh, go in the direction of Lanark Road West, pass Juniper Green and Currie villages. Balerno is the next Village.
When you are in Balerno, pass High school on your left, at the roundabout, go straight up the hill. When you see the last house on your right, enter Cockburnhill Road, drive half a mile into the countryside. Park near Pirnie Ha' house, from there walk to the V junction turn right and you will see the stream and The Planetary Healing sign at the entrance of the woodland. Follow the bridges.
Coming by car from Glasgow or Fife: Take City bypass direction South. At Hermiston Gate leave the bypass and take the very first juction to A71. You will only drive 1 minute in the bypass. Any longer then that means you passed the junction and will need to return. At Hermiston Gate Park and Ride, follow directions to Lanark Road West where you turn right. Pass Currie village and Balerno is the next Village.
